Lauren Juster will join The Folio Society next month as marketing director.
She will join on 4th September "to drive customer growth and sales", the independent publisher said. Previously the role was held by Emma Lawson who spent eight years with the company.
Juster is currently sales and marketing director at Biscuiteers, the luxury hand-iced biscuit gifting company where she has worked for 11 years. She “took the brand through an extraordinary growth period and established an award-winning marketing team”, Folio said, and recently launched the Biscuiteers’ US online offering, established an e-commerce app and spearheaded the brand’s foray into TV advertising.
Juster said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Folio. They’re curators of the world’s ultimate bookshelf and have elevated the reading experience to a whole new level. As a self-defined bookworm it’s a dream to be able to work with them during this exciting growth chapter.
"I am joining at a great time, as they launch their fantastic autumn collection in September. As a big [Haruki] Murakami fan I am particularly excited for their edition of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.”
Joanna Reynolds, c.e.o. of The Folio Society, said of Lawson’s departure: "Emma was instrumental in turning the business around when she arrived seven years ago, and her contribution to Folio was a significant part of the reason for its success. We wish her all the best for her future."
Reynolds said of Juster’s appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Lauren to Folio. She is very highly regarded across the direct-to-consumer industry and not only brings a wealth of e-commerce, digital, email and offline experience but also drive, passion and a strategic overview.
"Lauren brings a wealth of experience to The Folio Society and we are all very excited to welcome her as we go into our most important trading period of the year with our autumn and Christmas collections and great Limited Editions, including Shakepeare’s collected plays celebrating the 400th anniversary of the first Folio."
The Folio Society is an employee-owned independent publisher which was founded in 1947. It won four categories at the prestigious 2022 British Book Design & Production Awards.
