Hera has signed a three-book deal for "delicious, darkly comic thrillers" from Carrie Hughes.
Commissioning editor Jennie Ayres acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canadian, audiobook and translation from Jade Kavanagh at Darley Anderson.
The Woman from Book Club will be published in November 2025. Books two and three will follow in spring 2026 and late 2026, respectively.
Kavanagh said: "I know readers are going to love these deviously dark, funny and twisty stories and I can’t wait for all the exciting things to come."
The Woman from Book Club is a "twisty" story of a group of women who seem to have everything, until a death sends them reeling.
The publisher continued: "When perfect wife Emma gets arrested for the murder of her husband at a book club, their gilded world explodes. Nothing is as it seems in this dark, funny, smart thriller where the twists unfold at breakneck pace."
Ayres commented: "Carrie has an incredible voice which speaks to a growing market of readers hungry for smart, anarchic revenge thrillers and coming-of-rage stories for women that combine the very best elements of domestic psychological thrillers with wry social commentary. The Woman from Book Club is clever, deeply refreshing and absolutely compelling."
Hughes added: "Jade from Darley Anderson has found the perfect home for The Woman from Book Club with Hera. From the outset, I was struck by Jennie’s vision and enthusiasm for my twisted story about book-loving friends. Roll on November when The Woman from Book Club goes out into the world."
