Former Sphere commissioning editor Viola Hayden has joined Curtis Brown’s book department as an associate agent in Jonny Geller’s office.
Hayden will work alongside Geller on his list of clients, "promoting their interests within and beyond the publishing industry".
She joined Sphere in 2017, publishing an array of commercial fiction authors including Elizabeth Chadwick, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Roberta Kray and Jenny Ashcroft. While at the Little, Brown imprint, she also acquired New York Times bestseller Natasha Lester and Allison Dickson’s début The Other Mrs Miller.
Before Sphere, Hayden worked at Cornerstone and Michael Joseph.
Geller said: "I’m thrilled Viola has joined us and made the move from publishing to the agent world to help us broaden our offering to our authors. Curtis Brown continues to grow and offer our creative talent a 360-degree approach as we continue to nurture and develop writers’ careers."
Hayden added: "I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with such brilliant colleagues at Little, Brown, Cornerstone and Michael Joseph – I have learnt so much from them that I will carry with me as I move into the agenting world. I am thrilled to be joining Curtis Brown and look forward to learning from and working with the best in the business."
