Wee Bookworms has acquired children’s book subscription business Parrot Street Book Club, a “strategic move” that aims to “strengthen Wee Bookworms’ position in the children’s book subscription market and support its long-term growth plans."
Founded in 2017, Parrot Street Book Club offers monthly book subscriptions for children aged five to 14, bespoke services for schools and a specialist online children’s bookshop.
The acquisition includes all assets of Parrot Street Book Club’s subscription, schools and online bookselling operation. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The business will continue to operate under the Parrot Street Book Club name in the short term, with a view to ensuring continuity for customers and partners, and founders Sarah Campbell and Emily Bright will remain with the business until April 2026.
Madeleine Neilly, founder and managing director of Wee Bookworms, also a children’s book subscription service, said: “We are so pleased to welcome Parrot Street Book Club into the Wee Bookworms family. Their dedication to encouraging children to read for pleasure aligns perfectly with our values and we look forward to building on their fantastic work together.”
Campbell and Bright added: “We are incredibly proud of what we’ve built over the past eight years and are thrilled to see Parrot Street Book Club embark on its next chapter with Wee Bookworms. We have every confidence that Madeleine and her team will continue our mission to inspire young readers.”
