Holloway to leave Granta

Granta Books publishing director Sara Holloway is to leave the company in July after 12 years. However she will continue to edit some of her authors—who have included Anna Funder, A M Homes, Sara Maitland and Gary Shteyngart—on a freelance basis.

Executive publisher Philip Gwyn Jones said: "For a decade Granta Books and Sara Holloway have been interchangeable terms: her values of intellectual ambition, creative dedication and publishing purposefulness have been the imprint’s values. All of us at Granta, and all her writers, are entirely beholden to her. We will build on what she has established and continue to uphold those values.

"And we are simply thrilled that we, and her authors, will continue to benefit from her immense editorial skill after July. We have also made provision to ensure that after Sara’s exit our commissioning power is undiminished, and our editorial ambition remains of the highest."

With Holloway's departure, Bella Lacey is promoted to editorial director, while editorial director Laura Barber will acquire both for Granta and Portobello. Granta Magazine deputy editor Ellah Allfrey will also take on the additional role of editor-at-large for the books imprints.

Anne Meadows is promoted to assistant editor, working closely with executive publisher
Philip Gwyn Jones, while Ka Bradley joins the company as editorial assistant. Max Porter joined as commissioning editor earlier this month.
