Amazon UK has revealed the five books on the shortlist for the 2025 Kindle Storyteller Award (KSA). The award, which searches for the best self-published books from the UK, received "thousands of entries" this year. The winner of the award, for new and bestselling Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) authors, will receive a prize of £20,000.
This year’s shortlist spans a range of genres across self-published fiction and non-fiction, including romance, comedy, children’s, drama and thriller.
Readers played a pivotal role in helping to choose the initial shortlist of stories, with bestseller rankings and reader reviews considered, before being judged by a panel to decide the winner. The panel includes JD Kirk, 2024 KSA winner; Jen Barrett, UK KDP manager at Amazon; Darren Hardy, senior manager for KDP UK and EU; Orna Ross, author and director of the Alliance of Independent Authors; and James Blatch, author, podcaster and entrepreneur.
Barrett said: "It’s always a highlight of my year to witness the brilliant creativity and storytelling that goes into our Kindle Storyteller entries, and it is fantastic to see such a wide variety of authors choosing to build their literary careers through Kindle Direct Publishing. As we enter our ninth year of the award, I’ve been enjoying every moment of reading the shortlisted titles with the rest of this year’s judges, and we’re looking forward to crowning our winner later this autumn."
The winner of the 2025 Kindle Storyteller Award will be announced at a ceremony in London in October.
