Tilda Key has been promoted to publisher of Sphere Fiction, reporting to Cath Burke, deputy managing director of Little, Brown Book Group and executive publisher for commercial.
Currently deputy publisher for the imprint, Key will begin in her new role on 31st March. Her promotion follows the news of Lucy Malagoni’s move to Orion later this month.
Since joining Sphere four years ago, Key has acquired and published authors including Colleen Hoover, Patricia Cornwell and Sarah Pearse, and has secured world rights to Backstabbers by Eliza Jabore.
"Lucy Malagoni leaves behind big shoes to fill, as well as a phenomenal list and the best editorial team in the business," Key said. "I’m excited to lead Sphere Fiction into a future that promises yet more show-stopping debuts and beloved brands to delight readers everywhere. I’m so grateful to Charlie King and Cath Burke for this opportunity, as well as Lucy for all her generous mentorship."
Burke said: "Tilda is a strategic powerhouse for her authors, as well as a brilliant manager and exceptional colleague, with clear vision for Sphere Fiction’s future and all we want to achieve for the phenomenally talented authors we work with. Working closely with publishing director Jack Butler, editorial director Rosanna Forte, senior commissioning editors Cal Kenny, Elisha Lundin and Molly Walker-Sharp, I can’t wait to see all Tilda and the team will achieve in the years ahead."
Sphere are also recruiting for an additional commissioning editor to join the team.
