Lucy Swinburn has been promoted to head of books for W H Smith High Street.
The former head of children's books and head of adult fiction and non-fiction will report to Ben Carrington, trading director, Books & News and Impulse.
In a statement, W H Smith said: "Lucy has been an asset to the W H Smith books team over the past five years and brings a wealth of experience and energy to the team."
Her appointment comes after Pete Selby left the retailer following nine months as head of books. He decided to leave to "pursue other opportunities" according to W H Smith. He joined the firm in April 2019 after a stint at the Roald Dahl Story Company as retail publishing director.
