Dead Ink Books has launched its Outsider Classics list to republish "forgotten masterpieces" and "once-censored provocations".
The list is launching with the re-publication of three titles, with Baby Driver by Jan Kerouac publishing on 23rd October 2025, The Leather Boys by Gillian Freeman publishing on 20th November 2025, and A Visitation of Spirits by Randall Kenan publishing on 5th February 2026.
Nathan Connolly, the director of Dead Ink, bought UK and Commonwealth rights for all three titles.
The list is described as a "resurrection ground for the strange, the silenced and the outcasts", which "exhumes lost literary voices that were ahead of their time to restore them to the cult status they always deserved".
Speaking on the announcement, Connolly said: "Our Outsider Classics list marks a pivotal point of growth for Dead Ink that was made possible by Arts Council England’s investment in us as a National Portfolio Organisation. We’ve built a well-earned reputation for discovering new voices, so it feels fitting that we can now bring that same reputation to forgotten and neglected titles from the past."
He added: "Each of the books that we’re launching with has a fascinating story behind its creation and we can’t wait to discuss their histories with our readers. We hope that Outsider Classics will open up debates around the canon – who gets to create it, who gets excluded from it – and show that it is a malleable and changeable thing."
