DK has snapped up Nature is the Answer: A Toolkit for Eco-Positivity by naturalist, conservationist photographer and eco-activist Chris Packham, illustrated by Conor Nolan.
Katy Flint, DK senior acquisitions editor, acquired world rights directly from the author. The book will be published in paperback on 7th May 2026 and in the US on 6th May 2026.
Nature is the Answer is described as “a guide to help young readers understand eco-anxiety, build resilience, and make sure their demands for the future are heard”. The blurb says: “Chris Packham often experiences eco-anxiety. He knows that climate breakdown can feel overwhelming and cause many worries about the future for young people, but that doesn’t also mean the wild world can’t be an amazing place. In fact, if eco-anxiety is caused by the state of nature, then perhaps the state of nature has answers to our eco-anxiety.”
The synopsis adds: “Nature is the Answer: A Toolkit For Eco-Positivity will confront the climate breakdown, normalise eco-anxiety and trumpet advocacy – while keeping the joy of nature at the forefront of young readers’ minds. Practical, science-backed tips and tricks to lessen green grief – such as forest bathing – are mixed in with key bits of climate information and perspectives from young people and experts from around the world. There is also advice on activism (small-scale and large-scale), navigating social media and discerning fake news.”
Packham said: “I’m excited to be working on such an incredibly and pertinently timed book with DK, and to help generate some real eco-positivity with young people who really need it at this crucial juncture in their and our lives and that of the planet...their future home.”
DK managing editor Hazel Eriksson said: “I’m delighted to be publishing this important book with Chris Packham and DK. Chris has so much wisdom, about both the environment and mental health, which he’s generously and engagingly shared, and I know this book is going to help a lot of families to have really important conversations.”
