Happy Dog, Happy You: A Positive Guide to a Joyful Relationship with Your Dog by Verity Hardcastle has been signed by Yellow Kite.
Executive publisher Liz Gough bought world rights from Borra Garson at DML Talent to publish on 16th February 2023.
Hardcastle is a member of the Guild of Master Groomers. According to the publisher her “love affair with dogs” began with a Dobermann named Angel, and ever since then she has shown, judged and groomed dogs professionally.
She made her television debut on Channel 4’s "Crufts" and in 2021 joined the judging panel on BBC 1’s "Pooch Perfect". Hardcastle regularly features on "Steph’s Packed Lunch" and "Blue Peter", and has her own podcast, "Pod on the Dog".
Happy Dog, Happy You is described by Yellow Kite as an “essential guide to nurturing a happy, calm relationship with your canine companion and is not only a comprehensive dog-care manual, but also a guide to creating an ever-lasting bond with your dog.” In it, Hardcastle “draws on her experience as a reiki practitioner to encourage a calm daily routine, finding relaxing activities to do together, as well as mindful tips and tricks".
“You will discover how to communicate effectively and find the space and time to be in tune with your own needs and the needs of your dog. Readers will discover how to become a calm, confident and consistent dog guardian with this warm and friendly manual,” the synopsis concludes.
Gough said: “I love Verity’s warm and inclusive approach; she not only gives readers the confidence to bring a dog into their home and learn how to look after them and train them positively, but she takes a holistic approach I’ve not see before, with tips on living harmoniously together. We can learn a lot from our dogs – and Verity shows us how to build a happy, thriving relationship with our furry pals. We are delighted to be publishing this at Yellow Kite.”
Hardcastle said: “Dogs are beloved members of our family and I wanted to write a practical and easy-to-understand guide to dog guardianship like no other, looking deeply into how to create a joyous bond between you and your dog, how to understand their behaviour and be more mindful in how we live our lives alongside our furry best friends.”
