DK has signed a new picture book series of “laugh-out-loud tractor adventures” by author Ross MacKay and illustrator Alex Willmore.
Associate publishing director Francesca Young acquired world rights in three books by MacKay from Lorna Hemingway at Bell Lomax Moreton (now at Darley Anderson Children’s Book Agency) and Nicky Lander at the Bright Agency for Willmore’s illustrations.
Tractors in Space will be published in paperback in the UK on 8th January 2026, and in hardback in the US on 27th January 2026, with a second title, Tractors Under the Sea following on 7th January 2027. A third title will follow in 2028.
The description of Tractors in Space reads: “Chug past a galaxy of stars, whoosh around the rings of Saturn and bounce on the Moon in an intergalactic adventure like no other. This book series will delight young readers who will love getting to know their new tractor friends while exploring space and our solar system.”
Young said: “Get ready for an adventure that’s out of this world. Tractors in Space is the perfect blend of laughs, heart and imagination.”
MacKay said: “I’m beyond thrilled to be working with the brilliant team at DK. As a kid, I devoured DK books, so it’s a real joy that Tractors in Space has found such a perfect home with people who love it just as much as I do. Getting to collaborate with Alex Willmore is a dream come true too – I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read The Runaway Pea to my son. I cannot wait to see where in the galaxy our tractors might find themselves next.”
Willmore added: "As a lover of four-wheeled vehicles and all things rural, illustrating these lovable tractors has been great fun."
