Storm Publishing has landed the first novel in a new thriller series from Daniel Cole. Titled Jackdaw, publisher Kathryn Taussig signed a deal for world English rights with Susan Armstrong of C&W.
The synopsis reads: “Jackdaw begins with the shocking murder of a London heiress, live-streamed online by a vicious killer known only as the Jackdaw. Detective Constable Scarlett Delaney is on the case, but her investigation is thrown into disarray by the untrustworthy but dapper Henry Devlin, who proves to be both an unlikely ally and a dangerous distraction…”
Taussig said: “Cole’s ability to weave complex and compelling narratives, complete with well-drawn characters and plenty of suspense, is unparalleled. His writing style is crisp and engaging, with a razor-sharp wit that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. And with each new novel, he seems to up the ante even further, pushing the boundaries of what we expect from a thriller. However, what really sets Cole apart, in my opinion, is his ability to create genuine emotional depth within his stories. He doesn’t just rely on cheap thrills – instead, he crafts stories that are rich with character development and nuance, drawing readers in and keeping them invested. I can’t wait to share this unforgettable new book with readers.”
Cole commented: “I’m moving to Storm! It’s such a new and exciting home for me to launch Jackdaw – by far the most fun and irreverent novel I’ve ever written. I can’t wait to start working with Kathryn, Oliver [Rhodes, founder and c.e.o. of Storm] and the team, and for everybody to meet and fall in love with Scarlett and Henry!" Jackdaw will be published in e-book, audio and paperback in October 2023.
