Pavilion has snaffled world all-language rights to a raft of new baking titles to publish throughout 2023 and 2024.
First comes Georgia’s Cakes by social media star baker Georgia Green which publishes in hardback on 22nd June 2023. Publishing director Stephanie Milner acquired rights from James Hancock at Free Focus. Best known for baking cakes for Rihanna and other celebrity clients, and named "the Mary Berry for millennials", Green has written "a masterclass in contemporary cake decoration" according to the publisher.
I’ll Bake! by Liberty Mendez publishes in hardback on 3rd August 2023 and was acquired from Silé Edwards, then at Mushens Entertainment, by Lucy Smith, commissioning editor at Pavilion. Mendez, a trained pastry chef with years of experience creating content and recipes at BBC Good Food, shares tips on how to make entertaining easy and affordable, while juggling a busy lifestyle.
Smith has also signed a new flexitarian baking book by “Great British Bake Off” finalist Ruby Bhogal from Heather Winstanley at Insanity Group. Having appeared on screen in 2018, Ruby has waited until now to write her baking book. Baked Both Ways is described as "a clever baking bible for the modern-day flexitarian", giving you plant-based and non-plant-based recipes side by side. It publishes in hardback on 28th March 2024.
Milner also acquired rights to Happy Endings by award-winning ice cream maker, chocolatier and dessert chef Terri Mercieca, from Ben Clark at The Soho Agency. The book will publish in hardback on 9th May 2024. Both bold and modern, Happy Endings is described as "the book set to make us rethink how desserts work", with a particular focus on upping your ice cream game.
Milner said: “Since 2020, when the world remembered just how good homemade cakes and break-the-internet cookies are fresh from the oven, we’ve seen a bigger demand for guidance you can trust. Helping these four brilliant authors bring their own sweet style to life on the page is a thrill that never gets old. I’m excited that we can offer ideas for celebration cakes, easy entertaining, uncompromising vegan treats for the conscious consumer as well as everyone’s favourite way to cool down – ice cream!”
