Pan Macmillan has acquired How to Be Good at Life: Simple Systems to Achieve More and Stress Less by executive coach Ben Meer, dubbed “The Systems Guy” by Forbes and creator of the weekly newsletter System Sunday.
Mike Harpley, publisher of non-fiction at Pan Macmillan, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a “major” pre-empt from Peggy Boulos Smith on behalf of Lisa DiMona, both at Writers House. Avery/Penguin Random House will publish the book in the US as a superlead title.
In the UK, How to Be Good at Life will be published on the Macmillan Business imprint in trade paperback, e-book and audio on 8th October.
In the book, Meer “shares his proven DRIVE model (Define, Reverse Engineer, Implement, Validate, Evolve) to help readers achieve their goals,” the publisher says. “Drawing on his background as a management consultant at Ernst & Young and his MBA from Cornell University, Meer demystifies the hidden architecture of achievement, showing that habits and willpower can only take you so far. From managing personal finances and improving sleep to navigating career transitions and building stronger relationships, this book uses systems to offer a comprehensive toolkit for modern life.”
Meer said: “I’ve spent the past seven years refining the manual I wish someone had handed me when I was struggling. How to Be Good at Life is for anyone who feels like they’re white-knuckling their way through the week and wants to live with more ease.”
Harpley said: “How to Be Good at Life is not just another productivity book; it’s a manual for reclaiming your time and living with intention. It’s incredibly practical, optimistic and powerful.”
