Europa Editions UK has scooped Here, and Only Here, a new YA stand-alone novel by Christelle Dabos, the author of The Mirror Visitor Quartet (also Europa Editions).
Founders Sandro Ferri and Sandra Ozzola acquired world English rights (excluding ANZ) from Isobel Gahan and Roxane Edouard at Curtis Brown. The book will be published in the UK on 26th October in hardback, and at the same time in the US by the publisher’s sister company Europa Editions US.
Set in the “School of Here”, the book is described by Europa Editions as "a unique, dark and disturbing novel that shines a light on the angst of being a teenager".
Dabos said: “Here, and Only Here was first a specific place in France, on the Côte d’Azur, sometime between 1992 and 1995. Time passed. I decided to go back to Here, go back into the arena and face what I was trying to suppress in the depths of my memory.
"Today, Here no longer has any walls. Here knows no borders. Recently, someone told me that the particular, oral, and vernacular writing that I deployed in my novel would be complicated to transcribe into another language. I am not worried.
"Europa Editions has translated The Mirror Visitor remarkably well (a special thought for Hildegarde Serle), I know Here, and Only Here is in excellent hands.”
Edouard added: “Here and Only Here is an incredibly ambitious novel showing a whole new facet of Christelle’s talent. I have no doubt that Europa’s passionate and committed team will realise her vision and make it as big a success as they did the Mirror Visitor series.”
Europa Editions is joining forces with freelance publicist Jaime Witcomb at Ink Editorial who will lead the press campaign for the book.
