DK Children’s will publish Who Just Farted? by Zehra Hicks, award-winning children’s book author and illustrator.
Gemma Farr, associate publisher, acquired world rights from Jodie Hodges on behalf of Emily Talbot at United Agents. The book was acquired as part of a two-book deal, with the first publishing in paperback in October 2026 in the UK and US.
“Who Just Farted? is a laugh-out-loud picture book that hilariously explores a wide range of farts from across the animal kingdom and humans too,” DK Children’s said. “From the whale’s epic parp, the snow leopard’s barely there fizzle, the notoriously smelly gas of the sea lion to record-breaking musical and lengthy farts from humans.
“Explore how farts aren’t just for fun – they can be very useful, such as how the Bolson pupfish releases gas to quickly sink and escape from predators and how birds digest food so quickly they bypass passing wind all together.”
The publisher added: “Packed with hilarious characters and fascinating facts, this imaginative picture book is perfect for anyone curious about the science and surprises behind passing gas.”

Hicks said: “I’m utterly thrilled to be joining the DK list with my first non-fiction book. Their expertise in bringing factual books to life for young children made them the perfect home. We’ve also had lots of hilarious discussions (about farts) and it’s been a dream book to work on.”
Farr said: “It is such a delight to be welcoming Zehra to DK. We love her energy and her passion for bringing non-fiction to our youngest readers, and her books fit so perfectly with our other non-fiction stars, like Jess French, Ben Hoare and Katie Ponder.”
