Hodder & Stoughton will publish Rachel Bloom's memoir-in-essays, I Want to Be Where the Normal People Are, in November this year.
Melissa Cox, editorial director for Coronet, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Grand Central Publishing, which is publishing the book in the US.
Bloom — the star and co-creator of Netflix musical comedy "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" — has always felt out of place in life. In this memoir, she will explore what she thinks makes her "different" and come to the realisation that a lot of people also feel this way; even people who she otherwise thought of as "normal". Bloom will write about everything from OCD and depression to her love of Disney, and Spanx.
Cox said: “I’m a 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' superfan so I jumped at the opportunity to publish this book in the UK. Rachel Bloom is an incredibly talented writer and performer and the way she has written about mental health for the screen, and now within this book, is utterly transformative. She holds nothing back: it is all laid bare for us to both laugh at and be alternately shocked and comforted by.”
I Want to Be Where the Normal People Are will be published in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 17th November 2020.
