Influencer, actress and entrepreneur Emily Ratajkowski—know to her 27 million Instagram follwers as EmRata—is to publish an essay collection that is a "deeply personal examination of what it means to be a woman" with Quercus.
Quercus Non-Fiction publisher Katy Follain bought UK & Commonwealth rights to My Body from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, on behalf of David Kuhn and Nate Muscato at Aevitas Creative Management. US rights have gone to Macmillan imprint Metropolitan Books, with the book to be released in 2022.
London-born, California-raised Ratajkowski began modelling in the early 2010s with her big breakthrough in the public eye arguably coming in the now-controversial Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams "Blurred Lines" music video. As an actress she has had roles in "Gone Girl", "I Feel Pretty" and the thriller "Welcome Home" while in 2017 she launched her all-female workforce swimwear brand, Inamorata. She has used her platform to espouse feminist causes—including being a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood since 2013—and has written frequently on women's issues; her recent New York Magazine essay "Buying Myself Back", exploring whether she or a photographer who took her picture owned the rights to her image, got over one million views on the magazine's website in its first 24 hours.
Katy Follain said: "I have rarely experienced an editorial meeting such as the one in which I presented Emily’s book. The groundswell of support, admiration and excitement from my Generation Z female colleagues right through to my older ones was incredible. Emily speaks for women of all generations, which shows how important and urgent these conversations still are. Thanks to Emily’s eloquence and sharp writing, we can bang the drum harder than ever and take things to another level."
