Avon Books, a division of HarperCollins, has snapped up six books from Charlotte Butterfield – including two backlist titles, two further frontlist titles and translation rights in Avon’s existing titles with the author.
Senior commissioning editor at Avon Books, Rachel Hart, acquired World Rights in all titles from Hannah Schofield at LBA. The new deal will take Charlotte’s publishing through to summer 2027.
Butterfield’s next frontlist title, scheduled for 2026, will follow a palliative care nurse who discovers a time capsule at her school reunion containing a list of her teenage dreams. The synopsis continues: "Shocked to realise how far she’s drifted from her old self, she embarks on a journey to reclaim parts of herself she’d long forgotten, with hilarious and unexpected consequences."
Butterfield’s "feel-good" book club novels revolve around women whose ordinary lives are made extraordinary.
Butterfield said: "I am thrilled and grateful in equal measure to accept this new deal with Avon. I joined the Avon family two novels ago and immediately saw first-hand their passion and dedication for their authors and books that make Avon an incredibly special publisher. I love writing uplifting women’s fiction that shines a little light on ordinary lives made extraordinary, and I can’t wait to continue working with Avon bringing more of these stories alive."
Butterfield was born in Bristol and studied English at Royal Holloway. She moved to Dubai by herself on a one-way ticket with one suitcase in 2005 and left 12 years later with a husband, three children and a 40ft shipping container. She now lives in the Cotswolds teaching and writing.

Hart said: "I couldn’t be more excited to acquire these six incredible titles from Charlotte, whose books bring joy, warmth and inspiration to readers, making them laugh and cry (sometimes within the same page). I can’t wait to see Charlie’s career go from strength to strength at Avon – her original hooks and relatable voice make for unforgettable stories that I hope readers will continue falling in love with as much as I have."
Schofield said: "Avon burst out of the gates to publish The Second Chance last year and it’s fantastic to see their commitment to ever-loftier targets for Charlotte’s publishing with this new deal. With more exciting news to come, this is going to be a wonderful era for Charlotte Butterfield fans."
