Century has acquired The Four Wives of Windsor: Rivalries, Influence and the Real Power Behind the Crown, the first joint biography of Diana, Camilla, Catherine and Meghan, by royal correspondent Simon Vigar.
Alita Butcher-Wallis, commissioning editor at Century, acquired world all-language rights from Sue Ayton at Knight Ayton Management.
The synopsis says: “From Diana’s emotional revolution to Camilla’s long path to acceptance, from Meghan’s dramatic departure to Catherine’s steady rise to the heart of the institution, this is a gripping, deeply reported account of power, pressure and public life at the highest level.”
Vigar is royal correspondent for 5 News, produced by ITN, and a member of the royal rota.
Butcher-Wallis said: “Simon brings an authority and clarity to this story. He has spent years at the heart of the royal beat and now in his first book delivers exactly what readers want: the drama, the access and, crucially, a deeper understanding of how these four extraordinary women have changed the monarchy forever.”
Vigar said: “I’ve spent much of my career observing the Royal Family up close, but what struck me most over time was the influence of those who marry in. Diana, Camilla, Catherine and Meghan each arrived as outsiders, yet all left an indelible mark on the institution. This book is about their stories, their struggles and the lasting impact they’ve had on the House of Windsor.”
