Arrow Gate Publishing has snapped up Richard Harper’s Displacement: Zweig, Roth and Benjamin, which explores “the profound experiences of persecution and exile” through the lives of Stefan Zweig, Joseph Roth and Walter Benjamin.
Publishing director Sandra David acquired world rights directly from the author, and the book is slated for publication on 10th December 2024.
“In this compelling work, Harper, a distinguished legal mind and seasoned author, explores the profound experiences of persecution and exile as seen through the lives of three remarkable writers – Stefan Zweig, Joseph Roth and Walter Benjamin – whose literary brilliance, tumultuous lives and tragic ends continue to intrigue and inspire,” the synopsis says.
“Drawing from his background in law as a former barrister and literary expertise, Harper masterfully explores the complexities of fascism’s impact on these three iconic figures, whose lives were tragically cut short due to their opposition to totalitarianism,” the synopsis adds. Commenting on the acquisition, the author said: “I am delighted that Arrow Gate is publishing Displacement.”
