Head of Zeus has announced a "major" new three-book deal with Wendy Holden, author of comic novels including Fame Fatale, Filthy Rich and Simply Divine, all published by Headline.
Publishing director Laura Palmer bought world English rights in three novels starring hapless journalist Laura Lake, from Jonathan Lloyd at Curtis Brown. The first novel, Laura Lake and the Case of the Hipster Weddings, will be published in hardback and e-book in spring 2017.
Holden said: “It is a dream come true to be returning to work with Amanda Ridout [a previous Headline m.d.], who first propelled me to great things all those years ago. Head of Zeus’ commitment to distinctive fiction and author support is second to none. I’m absolutely fizzing with ideas working with Laura Palmer, and we are all itching to unleash our great new woman character on my readers.”
Ridout said: “Having signed Wendy to Headline for her début novel, it feels so appropriate to be welcoming her now to the Head of Zeus fiction list with this brilliantly funny new series. We look forward to finding Wendy a whole new generation of fans, who will love her wonderfully observed madcap characters as much as do her longstanding, devoted readers.”
