Waterstone's has revealed it has sold more than 350,000 e-books since its online store launched in September 2008.
At last week's Bookseller Digital Conference FutureBook, e-book buyer Alex Ingram also said that more than 30 e-book titles have lifetime sales of more than 1,000 units.
Ingram said that e-book sales were not "cannibalising" book sales and were instead a "growth opportunity as a whole". He added that if publishers were "innovative" then they may be able to "protect the price point".
Ingram suggested publishers should add extras including audio, reviews, and alternative endings.
