Vintage Classics has launched a "whizzy" new website, World of Stories, to accompany the publication of the first books in its Vintage Children's Classics series.
Published today (2nd August), the launch titles include John Boyne's The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden.
The site has been created with design agency Youniverse, and features content curated around six magical worlds: The Great Outdoors; Love and Friendship; Time Travel; World of Weird; Secrets and Spies; and Adventure. Each world contains animation, wallpapers, colouring sheets, facts about the books, quizzes and things to make and do.
There is also a news section and a gallery for children's artwork. Children can create their own avatar, post reviews, and enter a competition to win a set of the 30 launch titles in the Vintage Children's Classics series.
Vintage Classics editorial director Laura Hassan said: "The site is as whizzy, illuminating and engaging as we could have dreamed of."
Vintage has also teamed up with the Reading Agency to create a classics-themed activity pack, or "Chatterpack", for nationwide "Chatterbooks" reading groups.
Other events around the series' launch include a Vintage Children's Classics Family Fete which will be held in association with Foyles on London's South Bank on 11th August, as well as storytelling sessions at Heathrow airport and activities at the Storybox tent at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
