UK publishers’ total sales were up by 2.7% in the first nine months of 2009.
In the three months to end of September, figures from PA Sales Monitor (PASM), show that the value sales of participating companies increased by 2.7%, although their volume sales declined by 7.4%.
While volume sales to the home market declined by 5%, export volume sales fell by 10.7%. In contrast value sales to both the home and export markets grew by 0.5% and 6% respectively.
The PASM consists of 20 participant distributors and publishers, representing about 250 publishers. The combined sales of the PASM participants are estimated to account for 70% of total UK publisher sales.
