Little, Brown is to release a new title in Stephenie Meyer's hit Twilight series—an official illustrated guide for fans. The latest addition to the teen saga, announced exclusively in The Bookseller Daily at the Frankfurt Book Fair, will be an encyclopaedic reference to the five existing vampire-themed titles. A 500-page guide with 100 illustrations, it will be published worldwide on 12th April 2011. In the UK the book will be priced at £17.99.
Meyer will not write the bulk of the guide, though the publisher said there would be exclusive new material, including an extensive personal interview with the author.
Megan Tingley, publisher and senior vice-president of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, said: "The book is over 500 pages and while it includes some previously published information, fans will be especially interested in reading the rich, detailed histories of all the key characters."
The Twilight series has sold 116 million copies in more than 50 countries.
Despite its popularity, Meyer is understood to have abandoned plans for more Twilight novels. In 2008, the author vowed never to complete the novel on which she was working, Midnight Sun, after several chapters were leaked online. Tingley confirmed that the title remained on hold.
