Thames & Hudson is to publish the retrospective of the work of "Jurassic Park” director Steven Spielberg announced at London Book Fair.
M.d. Jamie Camplin acquired British and Commonwealth rights to Steven Spielberg: A Retrospective, written by Richard Schickel in co-operation with the director, from Palazzo Editions. The title is to be published as a global co-edition with publishers already committed in North America (Sterling), France (De La Martiniere), Germany (Kneseback) and Sweden (Forma).
Camplin said: "This will be a world bestseller. All congratulations to Colin Webb at Palazzo for bringing together Richard Schickel—probably the best writer about film on the planet—and the man who more than any other has dominated the movie landscape for over 35 years. 'Jaws', 'ET', 'Indiana Jones', 'Schindler's List', 'Back to the Future', 'Empire of the Sun', 'Saving Private Ryan', 'Jurassic Park': Steven Spielberg has quite a record!"
Palazzo publisher Colin Webb said, "I'm really pleased that this is being published by Thames & Hudson. It follows some of our previous collaborations and is also with a publisher that has dominated the high-quality area of the business, not unlike Spielberg in the movie industry.”
Steven Spielberg is scheduled for publication in autumn 2012, just ahead of Spielberg's new film "Lincoln”, starring Daniel Day Lewis. The title covers his 40-year career including stills from the Dreamworks archive and an introduction by the director.
