Tesco has launched a new Kids' Book Club website, aimed at promoting titles to children aged between two and 12. The supermarket giant has enlisted The Godless Boys author Naomi Wood to pick a “handful" of titles every month to feature on the site.
The Daily Mirror reports that celebrities will be featured reading extracts of bestselling children's books such as The Gruffalo on the website, with comedienne and actress Meera Syal and her husband Sanjeev Bhaskar story-telling this month.
Tesco's Claire Hoey told the newspaper: “Parents want help to decide which books to choose for their children and often don't have time to browse with small children in a busy bookshop."
Books currently featured are Dogs Don't Do Ballet by Anna Kemp, Jim by Hillaire Belloc and The Elves and The Shoemaker by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, among others.
The website also features a Picture Competition and a Parents' Zone and can be reached at kidsbookclub.tescomagazine.com.
