Simon & Schuster Children's Books has signed a deal to publish tie-in titles to the forthcoming Smurfs movie.
Publishing director Ingrid Selberg bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Australia, New Zealand and Canada to four books from Imps (International Merchandising, Promotion & Services), via TLC. The books include a movie novelisation, two picture books and a Ready to Read title. The four books will be released in July 2011, ahead of the movie's release in early August.
Selberg said: "We're delighted to be publishing such a longstanding brand in the Smurfs, who are sure to become a hit with families everywhere this summer.
"With the combination of our movie tie-in and classic titles, we hope to bring these beloved characters to a new generation of Smurfs fans."
