Random House has become the second publisher to partner with Sony to create an exclusive limited edition model of the Reader Pocket Edition, this time for James Patterson fans.
Sony last week announced that it had teamed up with Mills & Boon to produce an exclusive rose pink reader. Random House's e-reader will have a midnight blue finish and includes a case embossed with the Alex Cross logo.
The James Patterson e-reader will be available from Sony Centres, Waterstone’s and sony.co.uk from 30th November 2009. The reader will feature the Cross Country e-book, as well as selected excerpts from two James Patterson books and a letter from the author. The e-reader will also allow customers to download Patterson's new novel Worst Case from Christmas Day despite the book not being on general sale until 21st January.
Jonathan Davis, digital publisher at Random House said: "The bundle of a limited edition device plus exclusive content make for a distinctive and ideal Christmas gift for book lovers in the UK."
Simon Burke, Waterstone's fiction buying manager, added: "James Patterson is one of our all time bestselling writers. He is incomparably prolific and every book he writes is a guaranteed bestseller in whatever genre he chooses. An Alex Cross-branded Reader is a brilliant idea, and hopefully the first of many such collaborations between great authors and this exciting new way of reading books."
