Piatkus is publishing a book to improve mental wellbeing in motherhood, Mind Over Mother: Every Mum’s Guide to Worry and Anxiety in the First Year, by Anna Mathur in May 2020.
Mathur is a mum of three and an experienced psychotherapist. The book is designed to help readers who are mothers better understand anxiety and what to do about it.
Marketed at "every mother", among its aim is to "make your mind a kinder, calmer, happier place to be” and “transform your motherhood experience by addressing your thinking".
Jillian Young, senior commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Lauren Gardner at Bell Lomax Moreton.
Mathur said: "We are finally beginning to see the cracks in the veneer of the ‘supermum’ ideal, but we need more than just relatable stories to validate our motherhood experiences. My book is bursting with personal and professional, tangible tools and insights for better mental wellbeing in motherhood.
"My dream would be that this book would be pressed into the hands of every mother as they cradle their newborn. I have a passionate belief that every mum can enjoy more headspace, joy and freedom from worry and anxiety."
Young added: "Anna’s words and advice are a breath of fresh air in the parenting space. I find myself laughing, agreeing and crying with her and I know her legions of fans will, too. This book should be on the bookshelf of all mums—it will resonate and help everyone."
