Pan Mac to release Floyd autobiography as planned

Pan Macmillan will publish Keith Floyd's autobiography Stirred But Not Shaken (Sidgwick & Jackson) in hardback on 2nd October as planned. The celebrity chef died yesterday (14th September).

A statement from the publisher said: "We very much hope the book will stand as a fitting testimonial to a man who was one of this country’s most loved and natural communicators – both of his love for food and his passion for life."

Ingrid Connell, Floyd's editor said that the book was finished in August. Compared to his previous autobiography published by HarperCollins (Out of the Frying Pan: Scenes from my life) Connell said that this title would be "a lot more revealing" and would be "darker" detailing the break down of his marriage.

Floyd was a well known British chef who hosted numerous cookery shows and published a selection of books combining cookery and travel. He died of a heart attack on Monday aged 65.

Connell added: "It was a privilege to get to know Keith, who was truly one of a kind - a wonderful raconteur, opinionated, charming and extremely generous. He brought all his legendary honesty to the writing process and was justly proud of the final manuscript. I am very sorry I didn’t get to give him a copy of the finished book."
