Orion has bought a memoir by champion jump jockey Tony McCoy.
Susan Lamb and Alan Samon bought world rights from Johnny Whitmore at The Stellar Group for an undisclosed sum. The book will be published in hardback on 20th October 2011.
McCoy is widely regarded as one of the greatest jump jockeys of all-time, collecting 15 consecutive titles to date and riding more than 3,000 winners. In April, the Ulsterman won the Grand National at Aintree in his 15th attempt. The book will look at life at the top of National Hunt Racing.
Samson said: "We are thrilled to be publishing the memoirs of a true champion, an icon of sport, whose astonishing achievements over the past 15 years are unlikely to be surpassed. It’s a great story of courage and modesty, pain and professional setbacks, strong family values, and sporting triumphs, the good guy coming first – and staying there."
McCoy said: "I am thrilled that Orion will be publishing my autobiography next autumn. 2010 was a special year for me, in particular my win in the Grand National, and with my book coming out next year, it looks like 2011 is going to be as busy as ever. I'm looking forward to it!"
