Orion has snapped up rights to a French bestseller about the pleasures of living without excess.
Anna Valentine, publishing director of non-fiction at Orion, acquired world rights for the English language version of L’art de la Simplicité by Dominque Loreau from Benita Edzard at Editions Robert Laffont.
L’art de la Simplicité is a "huge" bestseller in France, with over 450,000 copies sold, Orion said, and has been translated into 17 languages.
The first English language edition is due to be published in April 2016 as a hardback and e-book, priced £12.99 and £6.99 respectively.
Valentine said: "This is a real gem of a book, and I’m thrilled to be bringing it to the English-language market for the first time. Dominique writes beautifully and persuasively about the pleasures of living without excess. It’s a manual for the art of everyday living and is one of those books that should always be within easy reach."
Loreau is a French essayist and has lived in Japan since the late 1970s. With a 'less is more' mentality, her book promises to "transform your life and take you on an empowering journey to happiness".
