Julie Walters will be featuring as part of an all-star cast for the audiobook of Jasper Rees' authorised biography of Victoria Wood, Let's Do It.
Trapeze has promised the audiobook will be "a rich, multi-voice recording narrated by an all-star cast of some of the legendary performers who worked with Victoria over her iconic career". Alongside Walters narrating will be Celia Imrie, Duncan Preston, Susie Blake, Anne Reid, David Threlfall, Daniel Rigby, Jane Wymark, Richenda Carey and Kate Robbins. An introduction will be narrated by Rees himself.
The audio has been co-ordinated with the Strathmore Studios and recorded in studios in the UK, France and in one or two houses, with plans for the audio edition to be published simultaneously with the hardback on 15th October.
Rees said: "As I worked on my biography of Victoria Wood, I wondered who could possibly read the audiobook, as everyone you’d want to do it is in it. So Orion’s brainwave of a multi-voice reading makes perfect sense. To hear Let’s Do It narrated by this astonishing A-team of readers, who knew Victoria and her words best, is a profound tribute to her greatness."
Paul Stark, senior audio manager, said: "Let’s Do It is an extraordinary book about one of my comedy heroes—it’s been a pleasure to work with Jasper and this remarkable group of readers to create a unique tribute to Victoria Wood’s life and work."
Let's Do It was serialised in The Telegraph and blanket review coverage is promised when the book publishes alongside interviews with Rees on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour and BBC Radio 5 Live Emma Barnett and multiple articles in print and online articles celebrating Wood’s life and legacy.
