Georgina Moore, former director of books and publishing at Midas, has been promoted to deputy m.d., the company has confirmed.
The promotion follows her joining the shareholders' board earlier this year.
Jason Bartholomew, c.e.o. of the PR company, said: "George has been at Midas for two years, and in that short time has achieved so much. She played a key role in our pivoting to being early adopters of virtual events when Covid hit; and proved how flexible and creative book PR can be with her campaign for Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. George has brought a wide range of new business to Midas, due to her reputation and contacts. As I hoped with her appointment, George has built a strong books team and her energy and passion for the book trade is infectious. George is bringing her experience to bear on key trade accounts such as Audible, the Reading Agency, and the Windham-Campbell Prizes."
He added: "Part of George’s new role will be to involve her more in our work across culture, festivals and the trade."
Moore's campaign for Hamnet won both the FutureBook 2020 Lockdown Campaign of the Year and the PPC 2021 Waterstone’s Award for Hardback Fiction.
Commenting on the new role, she said: "I’m loving Midas and the opportunities it has brought me to work across the trade, to work with some of the publishing teams, authors and agents I have known socially but never worked with. There is so much talent at Midas, so much rigour and tenacity that I feel I have learnt a lot from them all about the pace of agency life. I feel really that Midas will continue to be really buzzy, and to grow in stature and reputation and keep winning awards!"
Moore is currently working on campaigns for the paperback of the Women’s Prize-winner Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell with Headline, with the Picador team on the publication of The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex, and with Bloomsbury on the campaign for Lisa Taddeo’s first novel, Animal.
