Little, Brown Young Readers (LBYR) has acquired a middle-grade title about a boy left alone when his mother goes on holiday without him.
Joe All Alone by author Joanna Nadin, which sees Joe left in a Peckham flat, is aimed at readers aged 10 and over.
Publisher Karen Ball, who acquired the world rights from Julia Churchill at A M Heath, said: “I have long been a fan of Joanna’s writing. When Joe All Alone arrived in my inbox, I knew I had something special – and so did my team, who passionately championed the acquisition of this book. Joe All Alone is so much more than an issue novel. It is full of warmth, heart and voice – a perfect example of our list building at LBYR, engaging with UK talent and unique voices.”
LBYR will publish the book 7th May 2015.
Nadin is a writer of several books for children, one of which, Penny Dreadful is a Record Breaker (Usborne), is currently on the 2014 Booktrust Best Book Awards shortlist. In 2011, Penny Dreadful is a Magnet for Disaster, also published by Usborne, was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.
