L,B acquires "strikingly original" debut

<p>Little, Brown has acquired a &quot;strikingly original&quot; debut, buying UK and Commonwealth rights in <em>Breath on Glas</em>s by Jennifer Cryer. <br /><br />Richard Beswick, managing director of Little, Brown/Abacus, bought the title through Caroline Dawnay at United Agents.<br /><br />The book tells the story of two sisters and the love and rivalry between them as one desperately wants to have a child. <br /><br />Beswick said: &quot;Big themes - identity, genetic inheritance, fidelity - combine with a compelling story and a rich and sophisticated prose style.&quot; <br /><br />Little, Brown will publish in spring 2012.&nbsp; </p>
