Bloomsbury is set to publish an illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in paperback this August.
The paperback edition of J K Rowling’s classic children’s book, illustrated by Jim Kay, will have a new front cover showing Hagrid flying from Privet Drive on his motorbike, and contain “key highlights” of Kay’s artwork from the hardback edition. It will also include a pull-out poster of the Norwegian Ridgeback dragon.
Bloomsbury first published the illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in hardback in 2015. At the time, Kay said it was an “extraordinarily difficult task” but the book went on to achieve sales of just over 199,000 copies for £3.5m through Nielsen BookScan. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Illustrated Edition followed in October 2016 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Illustrated Edition afterwards in October 2017. The illustrated Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be released in autumn 2019.
The paperback edition of the illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which is also available in digital format, will be published in August, priced at £14.99.
