HarperCollins has announced two appointments for the newly-created roles of divisional sales director.
Paul Erdpresser will be divisional sales director for press and Oliver Malcolm will be divisional sales director for fiction. Malcolm, who is due to start on 27th September, is currently UK deputy sales director at Ebury and has been with Random House for four years. He previously worked for GlaxoSmithKline.
Erdpresser starts his new role on Thursday (July 1st) and previously worked for Hachette for eight years, most recently as head of sales for Headline Review.
Both will report to UK sales director Oliver Wright. He said: “These new key appointments are part of our strategy for increasing accountability, more closely aligning the goals of the sales team with the divisions they support and improving responsiveness to our retail customers.
“Paul has been working here on a short term contract as a key account manager for the last six months and we’ve been very impressed by his strong commercial ability, his expert negotiating skills and ability to deliver challenging targets.
“Oliver is an experienced and talented sales director with a passion for fiction, and a notable track record in improving profitability, developing and expanding high-profile brands and reinvigorating backlist. We’re delighted to welcome them both to the team.”
A divisional sales director for non-fiction will be appointed in due course.
