Publishing director for HarperFiction Susan Watt is stepping back from "the day-to-day" business from next April, in order to concentrate on her key authors.
Watt, who has been in the role for 12 years, has worked alongside high profile authors such as Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, George McDonald Fraser, Tracy Chevalier, Boris Johnson, Adam Nicholson and Jeffrey Archer. Her extra duties will be taken on by the rest of the HarperFiction team.
Victoria Barnsley, chief executive and publisher at HCUK, said: "Susan has been a leading light of the UK’s publishing scene for many years, responsible for bringing enormous pleasure to many thousands of readers."
Barnsley added: "She is a font of knowledge and a great source of inspiration to everyone who works with her. So I am pleased that although she is cutting back on her hours, we won’t be losing her expertise altogether. Her new role will allow her to concentrate her amazing skills on really building her key authors.”
