For the first time in its 16 year history, the Frankfurt Book Fair Fellowship Programme will this year focus on YA and children’s literature.
The book fair says it is sending a “global signal” about its commitment children’s and YA publishing and that it wants to do full justice to the dynamic development in the area.
Every year the Frankfurt Book Fair runs its fellowship programme for 16 publishing professionals from around the world. This year, the appointed publishers, editors, rights managers and literary agents will take part in networking events in Frankfurt between 6th-12th October.
Maciej Byliniak, editor and rights manager with the Polish children’s book publisher Dwie Sostry, who was a Fellow in 2013, said the news is “heaven” for children’s book publishers. “The new special focus on children’s and young adult books will open up a whole new level of networking for participants in this area,” he said.
Those involved in digital publishing for children are also being invited to take part.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is taking place 8th-12th October. The deadline for applications for the fellowship programme is 30th April.
