Foyles has brought the closure of its One New Change branch forward by five months, announcing its last day of trade as today (2nd November).
The mini-chain originally announced last month it would shut the store down in April next year when its lease ran out. However, Land Securities, which owns the One New Change freehold, has found a “well-known retail brand” keen to take its place.
Foyles said the reason for the early closure of the shop was to focus attention on the opening of its Westfield Stratford City branch, which is due to being trading next Thursday (10th November). Rebecca Hart, formerly a buyer for Royal Festival Hall and St Pancras branches, will now become the manager of the new shop.
Sam Husain, Foyles’ chief executive, said: “Although we had been looking forward to a final Christmas at One New Change, we felt that an earlier exit will allow us to focus fully on the opening of our new shop in Westfield Stratford City and give its manager, Rebecca Hart, and her team all the support they need.
“Westfield Stratford City has been very busy since it opened last month and we are looking forward to our opening in early November and a really strong Christmas there.”
