Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Antony Worrall Thompson are two of the well-known names on this year's shortlists for the Guild of Food Writers Awards, while new names include Ben and Charlotte Hollins.
Those shortlisted for the Food Book of the Year category are Lori de Mori and Jason Lower for Beaneaters and Bread Soup (Quadrille), Martin Jones for Feast: Why Humans Share Food (OUP), Dennis Cotter for Wild Garlic, Gooseberries and Me (Collins) and Paul Freeman for Food: The History of Taste (Thames & Hudson).
Nominated for Cookery Book of the Year are Richard Bertinet's Crust (Kyle Cathie), Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Nick Fisher's The River Cottage Fish Book (Bloomsbury)--also nominated for the Award for Work in British Food--and Sarah Raven's Garden Cookbook (Bloomsbury).
The awards, which boast 11 categories in total, including Best First Book and a Food Broadcast Award, will be announced on 12th June.
Guild President Jane Suthering said: "To be judged by your peers to be amongst the best is a true honour and one that we as food writers all value highly. The awards are highly competitive and I congratulate all those who have been shortlisted."
