John Darwin, the so-called 'Canoe Man’ who faked his own death to claim £250,000 in insurance and pension payouts, is attempting to profit from his crimes by writing a book while in prison, according to reports. The Sun reports that Darwin is secretly plotting to make a "MILLION pounds" from his crimes after smuggling his life-story out of jail.
From his cell in Everthorpe jail in East Yorkshire, the dad-of-two has been secretly writing his 'swashbuckling' account of his globe-trotting adventure. The Sun says that Darwin has made a mockery of prison security by smuggling his manuscript out of jail using a bogus legal firm - set up by an ex-con he met while on remand at Durham Jail. MPs last night demanded prison authorities close a loophole that has allowed the convicted fraudster to send his manuscript out of jail.
