Harriet Bourton is joining Viking as acting publisher for commercial fiction, covering Katy Loftus who is on sick leave.
Bourton will join the imprint on 23rd August. She was most recently publisher at Orion Fiction where she led the team responsible for market-leading bestsellers such as The Lido by Libby Page and Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh, and she oversaw major acquisitions including Alex Michaelides and Cathy Bramley. Recently she published Veronica Henry, Cathy Kelly and Joanne Harris.
She left Orion on 31st July following a "realignment" of its commercial fiction and genre imprints Orion Fiction and Gollancz.
Bourton first joined Orion from Transworld where she looked after its women’s fiction list, which includes bestsellers such as Sophie Kinsella, Danielle Steel and Cathy Bramley and, before that, she worked at Hodder & Stoughton and Headline.
