Bonnier Books UK has launched a business and smart-thinking imprint Heligo Books, with the first titles scheduled for spring 2022.
Led by editorial director Rik Ubhi, the imprint will publish a broad range of content from blue-chip business royalty to Gen Z entrepreneurs aimed at “curious readers, business leaders and everyone in between" while targeting audiences and age groups typically underserved by the genre, the publisher said.
It stated: "An original and inclusive publisher of business books, Heligo Books aspires to rethink the business and smart-thinking market, energising readers and listeners, and delivering fresh approaches for purpose-driven careers and lives lived with impact."
The imprint’s name is inspired by an island, Heligoland, off the coast of Scandinavia where Bonnier Books originated. The publisher said that "for centuries Heligoland was a stopping off point for adventurers seeking knowledge and fortune between mainland Europe and Scandinavia, an unassuming little island that became a gateway to a wider world, rich in discovery".
Heligo Books will begin publishing books in spring 2022 and has already acquired titles from various thought-leaders and entrepreneurs including Beyond Silicon by Jewel Burks Solomon, dubbed “a timely corrective to the toxic tech-bro cult of Silicon Valley individualism", CIA to CEO by Rupal Patel, which distils the unique techniques honed from the author’s years in the CIA, and Connect! by speechwriter Simon Lancaster about public speaking and making connections.
Additional titles for 2022 include Deliver What You Promise from the former chief operating officer of LEGO Bali Padda, revealing his insights into the building blocks of business, and Unstuck by Adam Alter, who is moving to Bonnier Books UK from Penguin Random House to unveil his "revelatory" guide to freeing one’s mind and channelling creativity.
Ubhi, the former Zed Books director who joined Bonnier Books UK in the spring, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our new business and smart-thinking imprint, Heligo Books, with a brilliant blend of internationally-bestselling authors, unique up-and-coming thinkers, expert voices and bona-fide business titans. Their books have exactly the sort of energy, inspiration and captivating writing that we think will make a mark in the space and that we hope will resonate with the trade and readers alike. We aim to reach new audiences and discover fresh talent – and we can’t wait to start publishing next spring.”
The Heligo Books brand and logo was designed by Tom Leach, creative director at Evoke.
