Andersen Press has signed a sales representation agreement with Walker Books and will bring its current deal with Penguin Random House to an end next year.
The publisher said it is no longer practical for the PRH sales team to represent its books because of improvements PRH is making to its systems and distribution operation. Because of these changes Andersen is moving from The Book Service (TBS) to Grantham Book Services (GBS) and aligning itself with Walker.
The Walker Books UK sales team will represent Andersen in the UK, Ireland and export markets from August 2019, when Andersen’s warehousing will be moved across to GBS. Announcements about Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada representation will follow in due course.
Klaus Flugge, chairman and founder of Andersen Press, said: “We have long admired the knowledge and experience of Walker Books’ sales team. As a fellow children’s specialist and independent company they are a natural fit for us. We’re looking forward to this new working relationship and the opportunities it will bring for us and all our wonderful contributors.”
Mark Hendle, m.d. of Andersen Press, said he was grateful to Penguin Random House, which has championed Andersen titles “so passionately”.
“Penguin Random House has served us incredibly well over the past 42 years and we are grateful to our colleagues there, past and present,” he said.
