J K Rowling’s new Robert Galbraith book, The Silkworm, is subject to delayed shipping on Amazon.com, a sign of the continuing dispute between the online retailer and Hachette Book Group in the US.
The physical edition of The Silkworm had been unavailable from pre-order before its release yesterday (19th June).
Customers can now order a hardback edition of the book, but are advised that The Silkworm “usually ships in 2-4 weeks” on the results page of a search for the title.
The detailed listing on Amazon US's site shows that the book is in stock but may “require an extra 1-2 days to process”.
Publishers Weekly reported yesterday that the book was expected to ship from Amazon in 1-2 months, and that a Kindle edition was unavailable. The e-book did become available late on Thursday morning, and Amazon provided no comment when asked about the glitch.
Hachette Book Group first publicly accused Amazon of delaying delivery of books by authors including James Patterson and Stephen Colbert at the beginning of May.
